Zen Den Worthing is a professional massage therapy practice based in Worthing, West Sussex. I provide a range of therapeutic treatments designed to support physical wellbeing, reduce stress, relieve pain, and promote relaxation in a calm and private setting.
In these terms and conditions, "the Client" refers to any individual who books or receives massage therapy services from Zen Den Worthing.
Sports Massage – Targeted massage aimed at helping with sports-related injuries, improving performance, aiding recovery, and preventing injury.
Deep Tissue Massage – A firm-pressure massage that works into deeper muscle layers to address chronic pain, tension, or tightness.
Remedial Massage – Focused therapeutic treatment used to assess, treat, and manage muscular pain, postural issues, and restricted movement.
Swedish Massage (Relaxation Massage) – A gentle, flowing massage designed to relax the entire body and mind, ease tension, and support general wellbeing.
Myofascial Release Therapy – A technique that releases tension in the fascia (connective tissue) to improve posture, flexibility, and reduce pain.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) – A very light and rhythmic massage that stimulates the lymphatic system to support healing, reduce swelling, and boost immune function.
All treatments provided at Zen Den Worthing are strictly professional and therapeutic in nature. These services are intended to support health and wellbeing and are non-sexual. Any inappropriate behaviour or requests will result in the immediate termination of the session, and the client may be refused further treatment.
Treatments are non-diagnostic and complementary to medical care; Jan does not diagnose conditions or provide medical advice.
All clients are required to complete a consultation form prior to their first treatment. This form collects essential health and lifestyle information to ensure that the massage therapy is safe, appropriate, and tailored to your needs.
Please allow an additional 5–10 minutes at your appointment for this consultation. This time is not deducted from your treatment session.
The time you book is the hands-on treatment time. For example, a 60-minute session includes a full 60 minutes of massage. However, please arrive a few minutes early to allow time for any brief updates or discussions before treatment begins.
It is essential that all clients disclose any relevant medical conditions, injuries, current medications, allergies, or contraindications on the consultation form and during subsequent appointments. This includes but is not limited to:

Treatments will only be carried out if they are considered safe and beneficial based on the information provided. In some cases, I may need to refer you back to your GP or consultant for written/verbal permission before proceeding.
Please note: I am not a medical professional and therefore cannot diagnose medical conditions. My role is to assess whether massage therapy is suitable based on the information you provide and to deliver treatments within the scope of my training.
At Zen Den Worthing, your privacy, comfort, and modesty are respected at all times. You will be appropriately draped during the session, with only the area being treated exposed. Towels or sarongs are used to maintain warmth and discretion throughout your treatment.
Zen Den Worthing maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy on any form of inappropriate or sexual behaviour. This includes:
If a client demonstrates any inappropriate behaviour—verbal, physical, or otherwise—the session will be terminated immediately, and no further appointments will be offered.
In the event that a treatment is terminated due to inappropriate conduct, the full session fee will still be payable. No refunds will be issued under these circumstances.
A parent or legal guardian must be present throughout the entire treatment for any client under the age of 16.

In the interest of protecting vulnerable clients, please notify me if you have recently tested positive for COVID-19, or are experiencing symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, or difficulty breathing. A treatment may need to be postponed in such cases.
The validity of each gift voucher is indicated on the voucher itself. It is non-transferable and non-refundable unless agreed otherwise.
Zen Den Worthing memberships are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Your decision to receive treatment from Zen Den Worthing is voluntary. By proceeding with your appointment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the Zen Den Worthing Terms & Conditions, Cancellation Policy, and Privacy Notice.
Health Disclosure: You agree to provide accurate and complete information about all known medical conditions and to inform your therapist, Jan, of any changes to your health status in the future.
Scope of Practice: You understand that Jan at Zen Den Worthing does not diagnose illness, disease, or any physical or mental disorders. Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical examination, diagnosis, or treatment, and no medical treatments or pharmaceuticals are prescribed.
Consultation with a Doctor: You acknowledge that it is your sole responsibility to consult with your primary healthcare provider before receiving treatment to determine if massage therapy may adversely affect any current health conditions.
In consideration for being permitted to receive treatment, you hereby release from liability and waive your right to sue Zen Den Worthing and its therapist, Jan Bugar, from any and all claims, demands, or actions arising from your participation in the massage treatment.

Zen Den Worthing operates in full accordance with UK laws and professional regulations applicable to massage therapy and complementary health services. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of UK courts.
Zen Den Worthing collects personal data from clients through the consultation form, text, WhatsApp, email and during the course of providing massage treatments. This may include:
This information is used solely for the purpose of delivering safe and appropriate massage therapy and managing appointments and client communications.
All personal data is stored securely, in digital form, and is protected against unauthorised access or disclosure. Access is restricted to the therapist and used only for legitimate business purposes.
Client records are retained for a minimum of 7 years from the date of the last treatment, in accordance with professional and legal requirements. For clients under the age of 18, records are kept until 7 years after their 18th birthday.
